Bitter Seeds (The Milkweed Triptych, #1)

Fun book. I like alternate history, and "what if supernatural powers altered the course of WW2" is an excellent premise. Some of the details of the powers were a little too much like the TV shows Heroes or Agents of SHIELD, but that didn't bother me too much. What I really liked was the unusual narrative structure. The main characters are intensely dislikable and one of our heroes is really quite a terrible person. And then the whole narrative is really propelled by the actions of one of the bad guys. Actions were are explained well enough but not offered motivation, so that discovering the motivations becomes the central mystery of the story. It's smart writing.
