Childhood's End

A pleasant and thoughtful sci-fi book, although it feels a bit dated now. I particularly liked the Singularity theme, also the mystery of the benevolent invading aliens. Clarke gets a bit preachy at times, clumsily explaining his particular world building or grinding some political ax. But it's never more than a few pages and balanced by his curiously empathetic male protagonists. A nice light read.
