The Farthest Shore (Earthsea Cycle, #3)

I enjoyed this book well enough although I didn't much care for Prince Arren's character. He's so passive! But then this whole book is passive, a weird passive take on a hero's journey to slay the Big Bad. Particularly the way the enemy manifests as despair, and lethargy, and hopelessness. It makes for quite a blanket of depression for the book. I like how the Earthsea books continue to subvert all these fantasy tropes.
